learn about their life experiences
What you will find
Welcome, to my website, here you will find a variety of family genealogy works. I have traced the ancestors of my paternal and maternal great-grandparents along with their descendants. Each of these great-grandparents emigrated to the U.S. in the 1880’s coming from different parts of the Germany and Norway. They came late in life as was the case with Franz Sturm age 40 and Kristian Thorson age 42 each bringing with them a large family and starting over in a new country. We have family pictures and stories of their life experiences thanks to our grandparents and parents.
Paternal:
Franz (Frank) Sturm 1846-1922 & Frances Wühr 1850-1940 of Kötzting Germany and Roselle, IA

be proud of your family
Who are we, where are we from and why knowing your ancestry is important?
Genealogy derives from two Greek words “generation” and “knowledge.” It is the study of families, family history, and tracing lineages to connect the past while building a future.
Discovering what your ancestors went through that brought you to where you are today will give you a sense of identity and pride. Become inspired by their experiences to build on what they have left behind for you.
Preserving and celebrating family traditions, embracing your culture, and knowledge of where you came from can open your eyes to how unique you are.
My goal is to simply inspire subsequent generations to safeguard this legacy but to also add to this continuing story for them to pass down to their own children.
